BROOKLYN, NEW YORK – Today, Work for America announced a partnership with Grounded Idealist to provide free, high-quality coaching to the 9,000+ outgoing federal workers using the Civic Match platform. This effort is part of Civic Match’s broader mission: to help talented public servants continue their careers in state and local government where their service is still urgently needed.

“At a moment of deep uncertainty, thousands of public servants are choosing to keep serving,” said Caitlin Lewis, Executive Director of Work for America. “This partnership honors that commitment—and ensures they have the support to move forward with clarity, confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose about where they’re needed most.”

Through the partnership, every Civic Match candidate will be eligible for three free coaching sessions provided by Grounded Idealist’s Coaching Collaborative, a national network of credentialed professionals mobilized to support mission-driven workers impacted by recent federal workforce reductions. This adds a critical new resource to Civic Match’s suite of support for jobseekers, in addition to resume reviews, curated job opportunities, and connections to hiring managers across the nation.

"We are living through a period of seismic shifts in the workforce, where funding and ownership of many critical domestic priorities will likely shift to state and local government,” said Kyle Dietrich, Founder of Grounded Idealist. “Grounded Idealist is excited about this partnership and our ability, through our Coaching Collaborative, to resource thousands of incredibly talented public servants as they navigate big transitions and work to pivot their careers with purpose and clarity."

“It’s so exciting to partner with likeminded initiatives that were set up to deal with the unprecedented need for support,” said Grounded Idealist’s Kristen Cordell. “By working together, we hope to make access to coaching seamless for those considering and preparing for career transitions through Civic Match.”

Since launching in November 2024, Civic Match has connected more than 9,000 federal workers with state and local government opportunities across 214 cities and 49 states, helping them get back on their feet—and building the workforce our communities need to thrive.

Job seekers can sign up for free coaching here.
